It's The Middle Of The Night. How Do You Get Someone Bonded Out?

Posted on

No one wants to be woken up by a call from the jail, but it happens. If your family member or friend is currently in trouble, it's up to you to bail them out. Sometimes literally. Getting a bail bond in the middle of the night can be a challenge, though. While many bail bond agencies do work 24/7, there could be some complications.

Finding a 24 Hour Bail Agent

Some bailing agents work 24 hours while others work standard business hours. You should call around to find out which bail agents currently have bondsmen available, as they could also be busy. One of the easiest ways to locate bail bond services is by searching online. You'll also want to find an agency that is as close as possible to the jail that your friend or family member is being held in.

Get the Cash You Need

Bail bondsmen almost universally need to be paid either in cash or a cashier's check. Many of them aren't going to take credit cards or debit cards, and nearly no bondsman will take a personal check. That means that you're also going to need to arrange for payment. You can ask a bondsman to meet you at an ATM as this may be the safest solution; you don't want to be wandering around in the middle of the night, alone, with cash.

Contact the Jail

Finally, it's also going to be important to contact the jail that your loved one is being held in. Your bondsman may be able to help, as it's possible you don't know which jail it is; if you've just received a message, not all jails synchronize their records with each other frequently. Some jails aren't going to realistically process the paperwork until morning, so even if you get there with a bondsman earlier, you won't be able to bail them out faster. Other jails won't even have the bond sentencing until first thing in the morning, so bail may not yet be set.

Getting a bail bond in the middle of the night doesn't have to be a complicated process, regardless of how concerning it can be. The truth is that a lot of bailing out happens outside of office hours, as people don't get arrested on a schedule. To find out more, you just need to contact a local bonding agency like A M Bail Bonds. They can walk you through the rest of the process.
